Yanbing Chen

Geographer, Cartographer, City Explorer, Globe Wanderer

I'm Yanbing Chen (陈彦冰), a second-year M.S. and Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Born in Hukou, raised in Wuhan, and having studied in Montreal before moving to Madison.

I initially majored in Economics and Finance, but by junior year, I discovered my true passion for mapping. As a cartographer, being on the road constantly inspires my work and broadens my understanding of sub-regional geography. Travel has always been a lifelong love of mine—it's not just about visiting new places, but immersing myself in different cultures, connecting with people from various backgrounds, and being exposed to the unique urban vibes each place offers.

Since starting my studies in North America, I've also grown to love nature. One of my current goals is to visit all of Wisconsin's state parks and as many national parks as possible. The checklist is growing, and the adventures never stop! :)
